CHALETS, TENTED CAMP, BUSH CAMP & RESTAURANT

Wildlife Camp is made up of nine chalets (6 twin, 1 double, and 2 family chalets). Our tented Camp has five twin en-suite tents and our bushcamp has four twin tents.

Lagoon-side chalets

We have five chalets situated in a quiet corner of the camp, overlooking a lagoon area and surrounded by huge shady trees. Parking for your vehicles is available right by the chalets. A combination of rustic and comfortable, they all offer a unique view over the lagoon where wildlife is abundant. We offer three chalets that can sleep up to three guests, a fourth chalet for two with a double bed and also a further chalet that can accommodate a family of four in two separate bedrooms with dining area. All have a veranda that allows you to relax and unwind, whilst watching the wildlife that is all around.

River-side chalets

We have four chalets which are located in the centre of our camp. Conveniently close to our reception area, main bar and restaurant, these chalets each offer unique views over the Luangwa River. We have three chalets that can sleep up to three guests and a fourth chalet which can accommodate a family of five in two separate bedrooms. The smaller chalets have their own private verandas from which you can enjoy the ever changing scenery that unfolds next to the Luangwa River.

Barefoot Tented Camp

A very private section of our camp offering all en-suite tented accommodation. Being located in a private area beyond our campsite with magnificent views over the Luangwa River and all the creatures within it, it is perfectly set up for groups of up to 10 people, but also for the independent traveller.

We offer five tents, all located under thatched roofs, each comprising two beds, an open air shower and toilet facilities. Each tent also has a small veranda to the front which offers, without a doubt, the best river view in the whole Luangwa valley.

Enjoy the tranquillity and stunning setting. This location offers the classic combination of rustic, comfortable and affordable in a real “Out of Africa” tented camp. All rooms are provided with mosquito nets and we do have electricity available (power cuts permitting).

Packages

Full Board Package

Our full board package is designed to make your trip to South Luangwa as scenic, as tasty and as comfortable as possible. After a good night’s rest in one of our chalets, an early wakeup call and early-bird breakfast is followed by a game-drive with one of our outstanding guides. After the morning drive, lunch is served in the restaurant and by this time of the day the swimming pool is the best place to be – with an ice cold drink from Warthogs bar off course. At 15:30 our waiters will be ready to serve refreshments before we take you back into the park to see what many travellers come here to see; the elusive nocturnal animals of Africa. Back from the drive, a three course candle-light dinner awaits you and friends and family. Our full-board package also includes laundry and transfers to and from Mfuwe International Airport. How easy can life get in the bush?

Self Catering Package

For self catering guests we offer kitchen facilities with basic utensils nearby. Should you require the assistance of a cook, please specify when booking, since we need a 24 hrs notice.

A private dining room / entertainment area is available for chalet occupants, where you can enjoy your own meals and watch the world go by.

The main restaurant is also available for the times when cooking interferes with your game-viewing.

Restaurant

Wildlife Restaurant

Our restaurant is conveniently located in the centre of camp and caters to all tastes. Our local chefs are on hand to prepare anything from early hearty breakfasts, to full three-course dinners in the evening. We have a great team in the kitchen and use fresh local products. We support many of our local farmers and they can be seen cycling into the camp daily with baskets full of fresh vegetables. Our home baked bread is famous and if you are joining us for an overnight stay in the Bushcamp our chef will amaze you with his skills on an open fire.

For big groups, we are happy to arrange traditional buffet style dinners, and can assist you in this or any other dietary requirements you may have.

The feeling of the bush is kept in place by the sightings from our restaurant. The ever-changing Luangwa River is just on its doorstep. During afternoon tea, sightings of elephant herds crossing the river, crowned cranes shepherding their young or warthogs digging for food are common. Do note that the animal life is not on the menu and is the one thing we cannot take orders for!

Full-Board

We offer our full-board guest a varied menu, starting with an early, light breakfast in the morning. After your return from the game drive, a warm brunch awaits you, before you start your relaxing afternoon at the swimming pool or a siesta in your chalet.

Once it is time to go out to spot some more animals, we first spoil you with afternoon tea, only to come back for a three-course dinner after the drive. Any dietary requirements you may have can be easily incorporated into the meals of the day! You can just sit back, relax and let us spoil you.

Non-Full-Board

For non full board guest, a menu is set with a variety of dishes to choose from. Needless to say all food is home cooked using fresh local produce. Vegetarians are well taken care of at the Wildlife Restaurant; we offer a variety of dishes and can discuss requirements not mentioned on the menu. We also offer our “Special of the Day” which works out great for our long term guests, offering them something different from the set menu.

Operating Times

Our kitchen is open from 07.00 - 13.30 and again from 17.00 - 21.00. Since all of our meals are freshly made, we need some time to prepare your meals. Please be so kind as to order your dinner before you go out on your drive or by 17.00, so we are able to have everything ready upon your arrival.

Late arrivals are no problem. Please speak to Reception who will be happy to assist you.

Needless to say, our Full Board guests do not have to order their meals. Each day we will create a new and exciting menu that will ensure you never go hungry! Both our riverside bars are open throughout the day to assist you with drinks and snacks. How easy can life be!

We look forward to welcoming you and joining you for a cold drink and dinner in The Wildlife Restaurant or something cool in the Warthogs Bar.
